Leading Croatian brewing group · Hospitality · Beverage CPG

Managed once. Served everywhere. Always current.

The on-trade partners of one of the leading brewing groups in Croatia — the cafés, bars and restaurants that pour the beer — ran their pricelists by hand: spreadsheets emailed back and forth, printed menus that went stale the moment a price moved and field reps relaying changes one venue at a time. The client needed pricing and assortment managed in one place, published to a guest-facing menu that is always up to date — without reprinting a thing.

DIGITAL PRICELIST PLATFORM · THREE CONNECTED APPS

Guest-facing digital menu shown after scanning the QR code at a partner venue

The brief

The digital pricelist is a two-sided platform. A guest scans the QR code on the table and immediately sees the venue's menu on their phone — branded, searchable, bilingual and always up to date, with no app to install and no login. On the other side, the client's team uses its own portal to manage companies, venues, the product catalogue, templates, pricelists, ads and users — and to follow the analytics.

The menu is the last thing a guest reads before ordering. The platform turns it from static paper into a branded, measurable, bilingual digital channel that reaches guests at the very moment they decide what to order.

The challenge

A printed menu couldn't
keep up with the real market.

01

Out of date fast

Every price change, new product or seasonal offer means a reprint — and stale menus stay on the tables for months.

02

No visibility

The client had no way of knowing what guests looked at, which categories they browsed or which products drew attention.

03

No channel at the point of sale

The menu is the last thing a guest reads before ordering, yet there was no way to run targeted, time-limited promotions on it.

04

Inconsistent branding

Every venue's menu looked different and the client's products weren't presented consistently.

05

Language barrier

Croatia has a large tourist market, yet many menus were Croatian-only.

06

Price transparency

Venues must be able to show a reference price on a legally relevant date next to the current price — by hand, on paper, that is error-prone.

07

Slow onboarding

Venues already had their menus in spreadsheets; re-typing them into any new system would have been a blocker to adoption.

The approach

Central control,
built for bar reality.

One catalogue the client governs; the flexibility each venue actually needs — and not a millimetre more.

01

Central control, local flexibility

The client manages the master article catalogue, categories, brand templates and ad campaigns centrally. Each venue works inside those guardrails — its own prices and assortment, none of the brand risk.

02

Self-service pricing, automatically reviewed

Venues manage their own pricelist directly — changing prices and adding or removing articles and categories themselves. Every new article and category is reviewed automatically by the system and administrators are warned whenever a conflict appears.

03

Bulk by Excel, live by QR code

Whole pricelists import from Excel through a guided four-step wizard. Guests reach a fast, mobile-first menu — bilingual HR / EN — by scanning a branded QR code at the table.

04

Client-managed ads inside the menu

The client places and schedules promotions straight into the guest pricelists — in several ad formats, from full-width banners to in-line category spots and featured-product highlights — pushed across the whole network without a venue lifting a finger.

05

Dynamic, brand-controlled menu templates

The client controls how every menu looks — header imagery, colours, typography and layout styles — from central, swappable templates. Refresh the look once and it rolls out to every venue's QR menu instantly, always on-brand.

06

A modern, maintainable stack

Next.js and React on the front, a Spring Boot REST API and PostgreSQL behind it. JWT auth with role-based access, Liquibase-versioned schema, containerised with Docker and continuously deployed.

Guest experience

Scan, browse,
order.

No app and no login — the menu opens in the phone's browser and stays fast even on a weak signal in a packed café.

Privacy-friendly analytics. Guests stay anonymous: views, category expansions, product taps, ad views and ad clicks are recorded against an anonymous session ID. An ad counts as "seen" only once at least half of it has been on screen for one second, once per session. Tracking runs in the background and never slows the menu down or breaks it.

The outcome

From static paper to a live sales channel — right at the moment of purchase.

Menu changes go live instantly, with no reprinting. Every view, category opened, product tapped and ad seen is measured. The client runs scheduled, targeted promotions directly inside venue menus — with a consistent brand look across every venue and bilingual menus for tourists.
